My parents make a ridiculous amount of money as a household, and in the end they still end up complaining that they do not have any money and can barely bay the mortgage payment. What I've learned from these numerous arguments is that your mortgage payment is one of the most important financial commitments you have - and often the biggest. As a result, the utmost planning must be taken to secure a timely payment and sufficient funds to live the rest of your life out.
So, here are some tips on making the mortgage payment and being a little more frugal.
Some Tips on Your Mortgage Payment
- Stop eating out - You would be surprised how much money you spend on food per month. My parents eat about three meals per day and they spend hundreds. Eating out will add even more to that. Try living off of beans, rice and other cheap things you can make at home, and you will earn hundreds back without even working for them.
- Pay yourself first - As soon as you get the check, take out a few hundred to put into savings. Always. Then live off of the rest. You will be surprised how quickly your emergency fund will grow.
